MyUpdate Toolkit
MyUpdate Toolkit(TM) Logo

MyUpdate ToolkitTM is the powerful software update utility designed for IT administrators and software developers to easily and quickly integrate update functionality into new and existing products with minimal effort. MyUpdate Toolkit features:

  • Custom logos and artwork.
  • An advanced versioning system that can handle almost any business rule.
  • Manages downloads and installations.
  • Let's the user make informed decisions.
  • Creates unique upsell opportunities.
  • Gives the user handy contact information if they need it.
  • Multiple products can be updated at the same time.
  • Easily check for updates.
  • Perform silent updates (optional).
MyUpdate Toolkit works under Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista.

Here's how it works: You use the MyUpdate "Update Manager" to generate a data file containing the information you want to present to the user. This file is then uploaded to your own web server. Finally, you point the MyUpdate "Update Utility" at the file on your web server during installation of your software. Then from within your software, have a button or menu item that runs the MyUpdate utility, which then initiates the update process. MyUpdate enabled applications can be massively deployed through large organizations.

Included with the toolkit is a tutorial that guides you through each of the available features. Once you complete the tutorial, you should be able to correctly implement the necessary calls in your application. The entire process usually takes no more than a few hours to complete.

You can try MyUpdate Toolkit for free. If you are developing freeware applications, MyUpdate Toolkit is freeware but donations or payments are strongly encouraged. Commercial software development is $25 per important version of your software - read the documentation for details (Donations work too). Other business uses are $250 per year (e.g. internally developed software for internal use only - annual fee covers all internal products). This reasonable cost covers technical support, upgrades, and implementations of new features.

InstallShield recently hiked their Update Services price to five times what last year's price was. Many IT departments and software companies are switching to MyUpdate Toolkit because it is prohibitively expensive to use InstallShield!

MyUpdate ToolkitTM requires Windows and an Internet connection.
Testimonial
I've been told on a number of occasions that MyUpdate Toolkit is better than the Mac OSX update facility, which was supposedly the best update utility until this tool came along. I wrote this for VerifyMyPC and decided to share the toolset with other developers because it is so easy to use and there is literally nothing like it. Most existing update SDKs are prohibitively expensive and don't have nearly the functionality nor flexibility of MyUpdate Toolkit.
