| MyProBB 2.3 |
Published: Sat, May 31, 2008
By Thomas Hruska
MyProBB 2.3 brings to the table a whole slew of new features. Most notable is the brand new Management Interface designed to improve performance, simplify daily cycles, and provide a mechanism for processing time-consuming tasks.
This release also features sending the log daily to multiple e-mail addresses and deleting old log entries. This keeps the database log from getting too big. Spot problems when they happen.
This release also allows tracking user registration failures due to domain restrictions (e.g. blocking hotmail.com addresses). Turned off by default, it allows the administrator to quickly determine if a domain block is hurting more than helping.
E-mail notifications for topics and forums. On by default, users receive e-mail notifications for topics they are interested in. The new POP3 plugin allows users receiving e-mail notifications to also reply to messages using their favorite e-mail client.
Additionally, a new plugin type has been defined - partial plugins. Partial plugins are incomplete plugins that the user has to finish writing but are very well documented to make it easy. The new Automatic Login partial plugin helps website owners to quickly integrate MyProBB with an existing PHP-based login system.
Last, but hardly least, is the brand new plugin Instant Message. This is the first plugin of its kind for any web software package, Instant Message allows the user to receive notifications with their favorite Instant Messaging client. AOL IM (AIM), MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, ICQ, and Jabber/XMPP are currently the supported protocols.
MyProBB requires PHP and MySQL.
